Partially, analysis of the system is done within overall design process. Same, as well as extended studies and analysis can be done individually. Such studies can consist of:
– earthing studies (soil resistivity measurement, results analysis, step and touch voltage calculations, real fault current studies)
– fault current and load flow simulations – for grid segment, substation level, or isolated grids are most often done in ETAP or DigSilent software, as well as others
– Transient studies, checking potential issues of transients and determining appropriate mitigation measures
– Electric and magnetic field calculations, namely for transformers, high voltage equipment, high-load cables and busbars etc
– insulation coordination studies
– lightning protection studies
– other project-specific electrical studies
